Creating is a cathartic process. The work speaks from a deep internal voice.

Fine art was a quintessential factor of Greg Crimmins’s upbringing. Surrounded by many forms of creativity, his love for art grew from early exposure to galleries around Atlanta, Boston, and New York City. With every painting, drawing, and sculpture he was allowed to dip into a different world. That is how the endless possibilities, and the overall magic of art, took hold.

Formal study began early. Encouraged by his middle-school art teacher, Nancy Brandley, he took private classes and later pre-college courses at the Rhode Island School of Design. In 2016 he graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. Illustration was the focus; fine art was always the passion. Internships, including Whitespace Gallery, kept him behind the scenes of the rooms he wanted to inhabit.

The work straddles the fine line between the metaphysical and reality. Surrealism is the heart of it; botanicals, drawn from direct observation, are the other hand, a way to share a love of nature and freeze a moment in time. As an artist and a human, the goal is never to cease in the search for growth.

He now works from Fairhope, Alabama, on the Eastern Shore, adding beauty the best way he knows how, and trying not to cause unnecessary harm to the planet that holds the work.
